Sheriff Leon Lott, of Richland County, South Carolina, United States, recently acquired 17 new Ford Mustang GTs for his team known as the Community Action Team (CAT).

These sports vehicles were chosen not only for their aesthetic appeal but also for their ability to attract and engage the local community. Since its creation in 1998, CAT has been a proactive presence outside of traditional police operations, initially using Chevrolet Camaros and later Dodge Challengers.

Now, with the Mustangs, the department hopes to further strengthen ties with residents by offering a unique approach to crime prevention and community support.

By adopting the Mustangs, Lott ensures that the fleet’s cost is comparable to conventional police vehicles, such as Chevrolet Tahoes or Ford Explorers, while maintaining the uniqueness and visual impact of the new cars.
